In My Shopping Cart

I'm borrowing this post idea from Danai. Wishlist Wednesdays are just that, wishes (most of the time). Here's what I'm actually buying this week...

New Face of Chanel No. 5...

Brad Pitt!?!  Am I the only one who doesn't think this conveys? What does this say exactly? That if you wear this perfume, the likes of Brad Pitt will take notice of you? Maybe it's just me...but I think it's all wrong. I'm not a huge Nicole Kidman fan, but even I would take her over BP.

Boy Chanel Collection

Chanel's new collection of handbags, dubbed "Boy Chanel," was inspired by a hunting cartridge (of all things!) that Coco Chanel once carried. I love that Karl Lagerfield expanded his design outside of the basic quilted bag prototype; finally a new and fresh look for the brand.

Fall Polish Preview

If I haven't said it enough, I cannot WAIT until fall!!! In the spirit of preparing myself (and secretly hoping it will get here faster!) I am transitioning to fall nail polish colors. Typically I am a fan of Chanel's collections, however, their limited edition colors for fall, graphite and peridot, have left me very unimpressed. Peridot is just a dreadful color - I'm not sure what would go with that awful shade of green. Graphite, while a good color, is too glittery for an everyday look. I also have a similar color by Essie, Over the Top, that I am partial to. What do you think?

Some of my new favorite brands are Deborah Lippmann and Butter London. These are some of the shades I'll be rocking this fall...

Deborah Lippmann Bitches Brew - perfect for a Hokie football game!

Deborah Lippmann Before He Cheats - always need a good pale pink anytime of year

The Art of Fashion

Neiman Marcus worked with photographer Norman Jean Roy and film icon Drew Barrymore (love!) to put together this season's Art of Fashion. A peek into 16 fall collections, the photos are a true masterpiece and they couldn't have picked a better muse. To view the entire spread, click here.

Karl Lagerfield for Macys

Chanel lovers great ready - Karl Lagerfield's collection for Macy's will be in stores September 6th. Personally I see more of Karl Lagerfield's style here than Chanel inspired pieces. What do you think? Will you be taking the day off of work to shop the line?

Chanel Makeup Confidential

A new website has launched, entitled Chanel Makeup Confidential. It's a blend of videos, tutorials and inside scoop from Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel makeup. Since it is so new, I'm holding my opinion until I see some more of their features. Check it out and let me know what you think!

*Don't forget to vote for what feature you like best on my blog (it's in the right panel). Only a few days left!

Fashion Icon: Blake Lively

I have always loved Blake Lively, ever since the first episode I saw of Gossip Girl. When she signed with Chanel in 2010, I think a lot of people were pretty shocked. I’ll agree, I was a bit taken aback that they chose such a young individual. However, Lively has certainly proven herself worthy of the brand, tenfold. Her style and elegance is exactly what prompted Karl Lagerfield himself to invite her to be his date to the 2011 Met Costume Institute Gala.

What makes my admiration for Lively even stronger is that she does not have a stylist. She puts together her outfits, accessories and all, by herself for each event she attends. Summoning her inner fashionista, she has never missed a beat! “I think I became my own stylist by not knowing any better. And once I was told it was time to get one, I thought: This is one of my favorite hobbies! And I’m going to pay someone to steal my hobby from me? That’s a terrible idea!”

Lively graces the cover of July's issue of Glamour, and her spread is awe-inspiring! She epitomizes glamour in every sense of the word and Chanel is lucky to have her!
