Style Me Chic: Marine Corps Ball

Reader Valerie is attending her first Marine Corps Ball next month and needs a formal gown. The only stipulations are that it has to be blue or red (to match the soldier's dress blues) and long. She also has a strong preference for one-shoulder dresses. She has scoured the racks at local stores and has not had any luck. Whenever this happens, I always suggest Rent the Runway! The Ultimate Luxury Accessory

A Gucci CAR!!! That's right Fiat+Gucci, two Italian designers, teamed up to create quite the auto! The sticker price is just over $23K, which is reasonable for such a "mini" with the styling of a legendary company. The car comes in black or white with Gucci's signature red and green stripe. The inside is immersed in the interlocking GG logo. Haute!

Baby Fashion

I got the idea for a post about baby's fashion when I saw the lineup from Missoni for Target. Since my Target was out of nearly all the women's clothes, I browsed through the children's section just to adore the prints and styles. Honestly, I wanted to purchase some for future use, but I held back. A lot of my friends are pregnant or already have children, so I am able to use them as my muse. There are so many collections with on-point trends for children, I cannot wait to have my own to play dress up with! For now...I will lust and buy for others.

Trend: Chocolate Jewelry

This summer was the debut of rose gold (as mentioned here) which I fell for. Fall brings in the new look of chocolate, or brown plated stainless steel. While browsing the Bloomingdales September issue, they featured a Michael Kors spread in this new color. What do you think? Will you purchase a piece for fall? Personally, I am going to transition with my rose gold through fall, as brown isn't my color.

My sister is back in town for the next  few months and is living downtown, which means I will be going out more than usual. Between walking from restos to bars, dancing all night and 5-inch heels, it's not a sound concoction for a walk home at the end of the night. Luckily there has been a revolution in foldable flats that you can stick in clutch. Problem solved!

Trend: Capes

Fall is essentially here, and I always like to have a fashionable fall coat. Many times I'll wear a coat the entire day, especially when shopping outside in NYC, so it needs to be just as nice as the outfit underneath. Capes are back on the scene and I am looking forward to purchasing this one, I just can't decide which color: camel or black.

Red soles have always had a correlation to high fashion, however, with the recent lawsuit Christian Louboutin filed against YSL, the sole won't be so exclusive anymore. With the internet clammored with knock-offs, is the red sole even a status symbol anymore? Blogger Garance Dore discusses how one top editor paints the soles of her Louboutin's black, in an effort to disassociate herself with one brand or another. Chanel's new collection of handbags, dubbed "Boy Chanel," was inspired by a hunting cartridge (of all things!) that Coco Chanel once carried. I love that Karl Lagerfield expanded his design outside of the basic quilted bag prototype; finally a new and fresh look for the brand.

Style Me Chic: Patent Leather Shoes

Reader Xuan is looking for guidance on when to wear patent leather shoes and what to pair them with. She has always believed that the shiny leather was only appropriate for dressy occasions, far too fancy for work, and was curious what my thoughts were on the subject. I put together a few outfits that can easily be worn during a day at the office or shopping around town. Typically I only pull out my patent during the fall and winter, but some of the flats I've seen recently could easily be transitioned into the other seasons, specifically nude shades.
